Edward Williamson is a native of Neshoba County, Mississippi,
where he established The Edward A. Williamson Law Firm
in 1976. Mr. Williamson has been a practicing attorney
since December of 1973. In addition to serving the residents
of Mississippi through his private law practice, Mr. Williamson
was elected District Attorney for the Eighth Circuit Court
District in 1977 and was appointed (and subsequently elected)
Circuit Court Judge of the Eighth Circuit Court District
in July of 1987.
Education: Prior to opening his private practice, Mr.
Williamson received his B.A. degree from The University
of Southern Mississippi, and his J.D. from The University
of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Mr. Williamson
graduated the National Judicial College in 1988.
Involvement in Professional Associations:
Throughout his career, Mr. Williamson has been substantially
involved with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and
the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association having held
virtually every office and committee chairmanship in the
Mississippi Trial Lawyers’ Association, including
his presidency of the Mississippi Trial Lawyers' Association
from May 1998 to June 1999. Mr. Williamson has served
on various committees of the Mississippi and Neshoba County
Bar Associations.
Other Activities and Interests:
In addition to his professional involvement, Mr. Williamson
is an active alumni and supports The University of Southern
Mississippi, having served on the International Alumni
Association (1998-1999) and continues to serve on the
past-president council. Also, Mr. Williamson is active
in the Democratic Party, having served in 1996 as a delegate
to the Democratic National Committee and continues to
be actively involved in Democratic Party politics, as
does his wife, Mississippi State Senator Gloria Williamson.
Representative Lectures and Articles:
Mr. Williamson has presented lectures to state trial
lawyers, participated in other education programs, and
has written articles for publication in legal periodicals,
such as:

Mr. Williamson presented to the Court a topic on opinions
and decisions of the Mississippi Supreme Court from
the perspective of the Mississippi plaintiff's lawyer,
July 23, 1999.
